Where Does Jesus Say "I Am God" in the Aramaic Bible?

It has been pointed out in previous posts that Muslims seem enamored with the fact that the Lord Jesus Christ spoke Aramaic, primarily because they believe it proves that He worshiped their god, Allah. But the similarities between Aramaic, Hebrew and Arabic are only proof that they have the same Semitic roots and not much more. But Muslims have not stopped claiming that Jesus never said He was God in the Bible, a fact which has been proven on this blog a (growing) number of times, and so this post is being written. In it we will combine Jesus' pronouncements of His deity with the Muslim love of Aramaic, albeit translated into easily comprehensible English. We will do this simply by quoting the verses in which Jesus unabashedly proclaims that He is God using the translation known as the Aramaic Bible in Plain English. Let's begin with the Gospel of Matthew: But Yeshua immediately spoke with them a...

Why Did the First Muslims Pray Towards Petra?

In his excellent and thought-provoking presentation titled "An Historical Critique of Islam's Beginnings," Jay Smith points out an intriguing fact... By 624 AD, all mosques were supposed to be facing Mecca. And yet, it took 200 years for Islam to finally get their "unity of direction of prayer" right and point all their mosques towards Mecca. 200 years! Something is obviously wrong here. The historical facts are not tying up with the Islamic sources. That is the reason scholars are now investigating why that is. The Qibla literally means "direction," and in Islam refers to the direction in which a Muslim must pray. Classic Islamic history tells us that Muhammad first taught Muslims to pray towards Jerusalem, but then supposedly received a revelation from Allah changing the direction of prayer to Mecca instead. This change was made in 624 AD. All slides and maps in th...

Why Do Some Muslims Claim That Jesus is Not Good?

Muslims continue to use heretical Jehovah's Witness arguments even though they should know better by now. For instance, the JW misinterpretation of Luke 18:19. Like JWs, Muslims will take this one verse and wrench it out of its Biblical context to try to reject Jesus' claim of deity in the passage. (the original slide is from the slideshow titled "Counterfeit Christs" which may be found here: https://www.slideshare.net/schumacr/counterfeit-christs-cults ) When Muslims cite this verse to try and support their claim that Jesus is not God, they forget that first, by quoting Him, they are admitting that the Lord Jesus did, in fact, speak these words in the Bible. And second, that they are claiming that Jesus, who calls Himself the Good Shepherd in John 10, is somehow saying here that He is not good. This is contrary even to Islamic teaching that, just like the Jesus of the Bible, Muhammad's "Isa" was sinless and righteous. If Muslim...

Messiah, King of the Jews and Gentiles? (Lost Sheep Series)

While Muslims claim that Muhammad followed on the heels of the Biblical prophets, his message was very different from that of the true prophets of God. For instance, Islam claims that the message of Yeshua the Messiah was intended only for the Jews and that He was never sent to minister to the Gentile world, which is known in the Tanakh (Old Testament) as "the nations." The Scriptures as taught by the prophets and encapsulated here in the writings of Islam's arch-enemy, the Apostle Paul, are quite clear on the issue. For example, Paul writes this to the believers in Rome who were comprised of both Jews and Gentiles: 7 Therefore accept one another, just as the Messiah also accepted you, to the glory of God. 8 For I say that the Messiah became a servant of the circumcised on behalf of God’s truth, to confirm the promises to the fathers, 9 and so that Gentiles may glorify God for His mercy. As it is written: Therefore I wi...

"Father Forgive Them?" Them Who?

Have you ever had a Jew-hater or anti-Zionist throw this verse at you claiming that it means all Jews are cursed from that day forward? 25 And all the people answered and said, “His blood be on us and on our children!” Matthew 27, LSB The next time they do it, ask them if they can explain how our Loving Father could ever reject this appeal from His Perfect Son: "Father, forgive them for they know not what they do." (Luke 23:34) And then remind them that more than 2,500 years ago, God already prophesied that forgiveness would be granted : 10 “And I will pour out on the house of David and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem the Spirit of grace and of supplication, so that they will look on Me whom they have pierced; and they will mourn for Him, as one mourns for an only son, and they will weep bitterly over Him like the bitter weeping over a firstborn. Zechariah 12, LSB Clearly, God's love, forgiveness and grace are available to both Jew and Gentile, whether pre- or p...
