During a YouTube livestream by Christian apologist Christian Prince, CP asks a caller who says he speaks Arabic to read Surah 9:31 in Quranic Arabic. It stops the Muslim cold when he realizes that his Arabic Quran teaches that Jesus is God. One has to ask, why would the Quran contain such a verse when Islam rejects the deity of the Lord Jesus? Obviously, Muhammad left his followers one messed-up book.
See for yourself how a literal translation of the Arabic reads:
They have taken their rabbis and their monks (as) Lords besides Allah and the Messiah, son (of) Maryam... Surah 9:31, Literal (Word by Word)

Muhammad's little "mistake" places Jesus on the same level as the Islamic Allah, a definite no-no in Islamic theology. In translating the text into English, the non-Muslim scholars kept most closely to the Arabic text. For example:
Arthur John Arberry
They have taken their rabbis and their monks as lords apart from God, and the Messiah, Mary's son...
Edward Henry Palmer
They take their doctors and their monks for lords rather than God, and the Messiah the son of Mary...
George Sale
They take their priests and their monks for their lords, besides God, and Christ the son of Mary...
But how many Muslim translators kept the text intact and reading the same way as the Arabic? Sad to say, not very many:
[The Monotheist Group] (2013 Edition)
They have taken their Priests and Monks to be patrons besides God, and the Messiah, son of Mary...
Hasan Al-Fatih Qaribullah
They take their rabbis and monks as lords besides Allah, and the Messiah, son of Mary,
Muhammad Ahmed - Samira
They took their religious scholars and their monks (as) lords from other than God and the Messiah, Mary's Son...
Ahmed Hulusi
They took their rabbis and priests as Rabbs besides Allah... And the Messiah, the son of Mary!
Tafsir author al-Jalalayn also resisted the urge to do some editing and stayed faithful to the Arabic text:تفسير Tafsir al-Jalalayn
{ ٱتَّخَذُوۤاْ أَحْبَارَهُمْ وَرُهْبَانَهُمْ أَرْبَاباً مِّن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ وَٱلْمَسِيحَ ٱبْنَ مَرْيَمَ وَمَآ أُمِرُوۤاْ إِلاَّ لِيَعْبُدُوۤاْ إِلَـٰهاً وَاحِداً لاَّ إِلَـٰهَ إِلاَّ هُوَ سُبْحَانَهُ عَمَّا يُشْرِكُونَ }
They have taken their rabbis the scholars among the Jews and their monks the devout among the Christians as lords beside God — following them in making lawful what God has made unlawful and making unlawful what He has made lawful — and the Messiah son of Mary...
So is Muhammad admitting in his Quran that Jesus is Lord on the same level as Allah? Clearly, the verse is saying that only two are worthy of the title of Lord: "Allah" and Jesus. Rabbis and monks do not qualify as lords, Allah says in this verse. That is reserved for Allah and the Messiah.
At best, Surah 9:31 reveals some seriously sloppy writing on Muhammad's part. At worst, it is exactly the kind of contradiction Allah said we would not find in a book that was written by God. Pause for a moment and let that sink in. The Quran fails even the standards set by its own god!
That being said, it is still good to see how, despite Muhammad's worst intentions to draw people away from the God of truth, even in the Quran...
Jesus is LORD!

Comments
Thanks for the comment! To clarify, though, the Christian Prince video is titled:
"A Saudi Arab Muslim admits that the Quran 9:31 says Jesus is God"
The video is about that Saudi Arab "admitting that the Quran 9:31 says Jesus is God." It is not saying that Christian Prince is a Saudi Arab Muslim.
God bless!
You need to take up your argument with your Muslim scholars and translators, not with us because we are simply quoting what they wrote. You need to write them and correct them if you are convinced that they are wrong and you are right.
Some of them may still be alive but I'm afraid it is much too late for you to try and correct Jalalayn.

This stupid claim can be debunked with and easy grammar arabic rule
Before I start we need to know these basic things
Nominative case مرفوع marfoue( ُ)
Accusative case منصوب mansub( َ)
Genitive case مجرورmajrur( ِ)
The coordinating conjunctions حروف العطف
There are ten coordinating conjunctions. When one of them is located between two words, we would say that the first word is"معطوف عليه" and the second one is "معطوف" .
The second word is then put in the same case as the first one. i.e when the first word is in the genitive case, the second one is in the genitive case as well.
For example:.أُحِبُ لَعِبَ كُرَةِ القَدَمِ و التِنِسِ
Translation:I love playing football and tennis.
As you can see المعطوف عليه and المعطوف has the same case and this isn't something I came with this is a rule in arabic
So let's see the verse know
اتَّخَذُوا أَحْبَارَهُمْ وَرُهْبَانَهُمْ أَرْبَابًا مِّن دُونِ اللَّهِ وَالْمَسِيحَ ابْنَ مَرْيَمَ
(Ps:the case for the word أخبارهم و رهبانهم is accusative case because هم is they, who are the christians and it's there to avoid repetition.)
So here the words المسيح and الله doesn't have the same case but the word المسيح and رهبانهم and أحبارهم have the same case there for with no doubt the meaning is that they took there rabbis and monks and the messiah son of Mary as god instead of allah
I challenge every one to try and debunk this
The informations I mentioned are well-known you can search for them any where I'm sure you'll find it
