Now You See Them, Now You Don't?

The Allah of Islam says in his Quran that he "sent down" the Torah and the Injil. But when you quote the Jewish Torah and the Christian Gospels to them, Muslims of today claim that these books no longer exist.

So Allah says, "I sent down those books."

  But Muslims say, "They're gone!"

Their belief is that, somehow, the books that Allah sent are now lost forever. No amount of asking to see Islam's original Torah, Injil and Zabur (psalms) of Allah has ever produced these lost books.

Which leads us to suggest that perhaps Muslims of today need to update their Quran to reflect what they actually believe. Since they have decided to replace what Allah said with what they think he meant, then why leave the text in its current state? What is the point in claiming the Quran is Allah's word when you don't believe it says what he wanted in the first place?

We suggest that the Quran should be revised to more accurately reflect this modern shift in Muslim thinking -- and Allah's implied failure to properly communicate his words. For example:

Surah 3
3 He has sent down upon thee the Book with the truth, confirming what is between his hands, and He sent down the Torah and the Gospel, which He then somehow lost.

Surah 5

43 "How come they unto thee for judgment when they have the Torah, wherein Allah hath delivered judgment (for them)? But alas... Allah lost the Torah though no one knows when, and it has never been found since!

Surah 5

46 And We caused Jesus, son of Mary, to follow in their footsteps, confirming that which was (revealed) before him in the Torah, which We then caused to disappear!
And We bestowed on him the Gospel wherein is guidance and a light, confirming that which was (revealed) before it in the Torah - a guidance and an admonition unto those who ward off (evil). But then We lost that, too, and thus turned off the light. Sorry!

Surah 5

47 Let the People of the Gospel judge by that which Allah hath revealed therein, and then caused to disappear.
Whoso judgeth not by that which Allah hath revealed: such are evil-livers.
Whose judgeth not by that which Allah hath disappeared: such have healthy livers!

Surah 6

114 ...
Those unto whom We gave the Scripture [the Taurat (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel)] cannot know that it is revealed from your Lord in truth because We have caused it to disappear. Tough luck, infidel!
Indeed, there is much in the sayings of your prophet for you to doubt.

Surah 17
55 ... And we preferred some of the prophets above others, and unto David We gave the Psalms. Which somehow We lost.

Since many modern Muslims are theological liberals who believe that Allah really didn't mean his Quran to read the way he wrote it, then isn't an update of his book long overdue?

But what an odd religion which believes that their god can lose books that he sent down.
What an odd religion in which "believers" are allowed to reinterpret what their god says in his book.

Why do today's Muslims think that they know better than their god that they no longer believe what he "sent down" 1,400 years ago?

Why do they blindly accept this allegation of Bible corruption that Muhammad himself never taught? (see Answering Islam article linked to below for more)

But their own Quran contradicts this claim, as we can see below:

Surah 2

2 This is the Scripture whereof there is no doubt, a guidance unto those who ward off (evil).

Who believe in the Unseen, and establish worship, and spend of that We have bestowed upon them;

And who believe in that which is revealed unto thee (Muhammad) and that which was revealed before thee, and are certain of the Hereafter.

 ...

285 The messenger believeth in that which hath been revealed unto him from his Lord and (so do) believers. Each one believeth in Allah and His angels and His scriptures and His messengers - We make no distinction between any of His messengers - and they say: We hear, and we obey. (Grant us) Thy forgiveness, our Lord. Unto Thee is the journeying.

Surah 3
84 Say (O Muhammad): We believe in Allah and that which is revealed unto us and that which was revealed unto Abraham and Ishmael and Isaac and Jacob and the tribes, and that which was vouchsafed unto Moses and Jesus and the prophets from their Lord. We make no distinction between any of them, and unto Him we have surrendered.

Ultimately, it is a far better idea to trust in Yahweh, the God of the Bible because, despite the passage of millennia, He never lost any of His Books.

And if the last 3,500 years are anything to go by, He never will.

Jesus is Lord!
