More Writing on the Wall?
Yahweh God is big on writing while Allah of the Quran depended fully on the fallible memories of men (and they failed him big-time!). Here are some of the facts.
The Lord Himself writes:
When He finished speaking with Moses on Mount Sinai, He gave him the two tablets of the testimony, stone tablets inscribed by the finger of God. Exodus 31:18
The Lord said to Moses, “Cut two stone tablets like the first ones, and I will write on them the words that were on the first tablets, which you broke. Exodus 34:1
Moses was told to write:
The Lord also said to Moses, “Write down these words, for I have made a covenant with you and with Israel based on these words.” Exodus 34:27
The Israelites were told to write:
Write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates. Deuteronomy 6:9
The priests were told to write:
“Then the priest is to write these curses on a scroll and wash them off into the bitter water." Numbers 5:23
The king was told to write:
When he is seated on his royal throne, he is to write a copy of this instruction for himself on a scroll in the presence of the Levitical priests. Deuteronomy 17:18
The prophet Isaiah was told to write:
Go now, write it on a tablet in their presence and inscribe it on a scroll; it will be for the future, forever and ever. Isaiah 30:8
The prophet Jeremiah was told to write:
This is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: “Write down on a scroll all the words that I have spoken to you, Jeremiah 30:2
The prophet Ezekiel was told to write:
“Son of man, write down today’s date, this very day. The king of Babylon has laid siege to Jerusalem this very day." Ezekiel 24:2
The prophet Habakkuk was told to write:
The Lord answered me: Write down this vision; clearly inscribe it on tablets so one may easily read it. Habakkuk 2:2
Not a single prophet or author of a Bible book was illiterate or worse still, proudly touted to be illiterate as Muslims do with Muhammad. While Jesus' apostles were ordinary folk such as fishermen and tradesmen, that did not mean they were illiterate. Instead, the Bible describes a couple of them as "unschooled," meaning simply that they had never gone to yeshiva, or Jewish seminary.
According to many Muslims, however, Muhammad was illiterate. Worse still for Islam, it seems Allah never told him to write anything down or get someone's help doing it. Which is why he lost so much of the Quran to failed memories and the Battle of Yamama.
If Muhammad was, in fact, illiterate and Allah never told him to get someone to put the whole Quran down on paper, then the blame belongs solely to Allah that 3/4ths of the Quran has been lost forever. So much for his promise to preserve the Quran!
