Who Then is This Jesus?

Even after Jesus had been ministering for some time, His followers still failed to fully grasp Who He was. One day, He took them on a little trip. It was one that they would not soon forget.

35 On that day, when evening had come, He told them, “Let’s cross over to the other side of the sea.” 

36 So they left the crowd and took Him along since He was already in the boat. And other boats were with Him. 

37 A fierce windstorm arose, and the waves were breaking over the boat, so that the boat was already being swamped. 

38 But He was in the stern, sleeping on the cushion. So they woke Him up and said to Him, “Teacher! Don’t You care that we’re going to die?”

39 He got up, rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Silence! Be still!” The wind ceased, and there was a great calm.

Why Don't Christians Follow Jewish Dietary Laws?

Some Muslims are wont to claim that they, as followers of Muhammad, are better Christians than Christians because they do not eat pork. It is their belief that, since Christ followed the Mosaic Law, then therefore so should Christians.

  What Muslims are missing is that Yahweh, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob instituted the Mosaic Law to prepare the nation of Israel -- and only Israel -- for the coming of their Messiah. Yahweh was setting His People apart from all the Gentile nations, shining a spotlight on them so to speak, so that everyone would know to watch these people who worshiped only one God, as opposed to all of their polytheistic neighbors, and who dressed and lived and ate differently than everyone else.

  Yahweh wanted the known world to have their eyes on these people because One was about to come out of them Who would alter the course of history forever. Literally.
