Muslims like to twist this verse to claim that Jesus is saying He's not God because Jesus says only God is good.
So let's remember that.
ONLY GOD is good.
Now let's look at something else Jesus said to prove that Muslims are misinterpreting Jesus when they say He isn't God.
Notice what Jesus says in Matthew 7,
"If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!" Matthew 7:11
Did you see that?
Did you see what Jesus said?
Jesus said,
"If you then, who are evil..."
"If YOU... who are evil!"
He didn't say, "If WE... who are evil."
He said, "If YOU... who are evil!"
Jesus purposely segregated Himself from the rest of humanity in that statement.
Why?
Because Jesus was sinless.
Because ONLY God is good.
And because WE are evil.
Jesus is not just perfectly good...
He is GOD!
And so, Christians, the next time a Muslim tells you Jesus said, "Why do you call Me good?," point them to 7-11...
MATTHEW 7:11!
"If YOU then, who are EVIL, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!" Matthew 7:11
